About High Sprays Pop Up Sprinklers
High Sprays are aluminium risers with a rebate machined into them to house a quality pop-up spray. This spray sits 25mm below the top of the tube making it hard to damage. 250mm from the bottom of the tube is a hole that allows a thick-walled poly pipe to be connected for water supply. The thick wall of the pipe prevents kinks.
The pop-up spray does not include a nozzle because it is important to have the right nozzle to suit the specific needs of each garden. There are many different types of nozzles (see some nozzle options here) which enable gardeners to water their gardens in the most efficient way. For this reason, the right nozzle must be chosen for each situation and this is a choice we can help with.
For water supply connection
High Sprays pop up sprinklers also have a tail of 13mm pipe with a 15mm male BSP thread for easy connection. The tail is to allow for maintenance to the sprinkler and should not be shortened.
The advantages of High Sprays
High Sprays pop up sprinklers are built to last. The tough, aluminium casing makes them difficult to damage. The casings also have a rebate machined into them to house a recessed sprinkler, making them difficult to tamper with. They can also be concreted into place which reduces the chance of vandalism or theft.
The fact that they are so tough and sturdy means they protect the irrigation equipment from gardener’s tools such as hedgers and trimmers. They also won’t be trampled on by gardeners or knocked over by animals (such as bush turkeys), which is a common occurrence with normal plastic irrigation spray supports.
Better spray coverage
High Sprays sprinkler systems provide better irrigation coverage because of their height. This means that the spray is projected over and onto the plants as opposed to being sprayed at them. Achieving maximum coverage and efficiency means reduced water use.
Watering from above onto the plants' leaves also benefits the plants by washing dust off the leaves which makes photosynthesis more efficient.
Low maintenance
High Sprays pop up sprinklers are extremely low maintenance. Being above the ground, they are easy to locate and check. There is also reduced wear and tear because dirt does not enter into the apparatus. When there is a problem, such as a pipe being cut or constricted by roots, it is easily noticed by the reduced pressure and the problem is easy to locate. With drip-feed irrigation methods, cut pipes are hard to locate and often dead plants are the first sign of a problem.
Easily concealed
Using colours that blend into a garden environment, High Sprays are easily concealed amongst plants and vegetation. However, come watering time, they can be trusted to rise to the occasion, providing maximum coverage with minimum wastage.
The importance of choosing the right nozzle
As mentioned, High Sprays do not come with a nozzle for a very important reason. Having the wrong nozzles can lead to water wastage and an inefficient irrigation system. For this reason, it is important to choose nozzles that will give you the best results and coverage for your particular garden. Nozzle options should be discussed with your installer or irrigation specialist.
